    If you have travelled on/after 17 February 2005 from an EU airport; or to an EU airport with an EU airline and you have been denied boarding, the EC regulations 261/2004 states you are entitled to the following:  
       
    The airline must first request any passengers to give up their reservation voluntarily. Those who do are entitled to-  
       
    a refund of the unused flights and, a refund of the used flights if the onward journey is no longer required and a return flight back to the original departure airport. Alternatively, the passenger is entitled to an alternative flight to continue their onward journey.  
       
    If an insufficient number of passengers voluntarily give up their reservation, the airline can then involuntarily deny boarding to the required number of passengers. If you are involuntarily denied boarding, you are entitled to-  
       
    a refund of the unused flights and, a refund of the used flights if the onward journey is no longer required and a return flight back to the original departure airport. Alternatively, the passenger is entitled to an alternative flight to continue their onward journey.  
       
    Passengers involuntarily denied boarding are also entitled to compensation depending on the length of journey-  
       
    If your length of journey is 1500km or less you are entitled to €250 ( 50% if the alternative flight arrives within 2 hours)  
    If your length of journey is 1500-3500km you are entitled to €400 (50% if the alternative flight arrives within 3 hours)  
    If your length of journey is 3500km or more you are entitled to €600 (50% if the alternative flight arrives within 4 hours)
